Specificity: Mouse Monoclonal Antibody specific to Methicilin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA)
Background: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) survives treatment with broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotics including penicillin, methicillin, and cephalosporins. Previously, most MRSA infections occurred in hospitals or other health care settings, such as nursing homes and dialysis centers and were known as “health care-associated MRSA” or HA-MRSA. Older adults and people with weakened immune systems were most at risk of contracting HA-MRSA. More recently, another type of MRSA has occurred among otherwise healthy people in the wider community. This form, “community-associated MRSA”, or CA-MRSA, causes serious skin and soft tissue infections and a potentially lethal form of pneumonia.
ELISA: use at a 1:5,000 dilution in direct ELISA against purified MRSA protein or MRSA-positive Staphylococcus aureus lysate.
Immunoblotting: use at a 1:2,000 dilution. A band of approx. 70kDa is detected.
These are recommended dilutions.
End user should determine optimal dilutions for their applications.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic/therapeutics procedures.
